Honoring Our Heroes at the Annual Mifflin Community Volunteer Fire Department Banquet
Last night, the Mifflin Community Volunteer Fire Department gathered to celebrate its annual banquet, a special evening dedicated to honoring the incredible service of our members and the families who support them.
We are deeply grateful for every volunteer who gives their time and heart to this department. Their dedication—and the unwavering support of their loved ones—makes all the difference.
A heartfelt congratulations to this year’s award recipients:
Two Years of Service Bars: FF Malcolm Brown and FF Kyle Reynolds
Five-Year Service Plaques: FF Mike Campbell and FF Hunter Marcum
Firefighter of the Year: FF/EMR Clay Kahl
EMT of the Year: FF/EMT Todd Heldenbrand
Officer of the Year: Assistant Chief FF/Paramedic Randall Jackenheimer
Each year, we also recognize our Top 5 Responders—those who answered the call time and again. Notably, two members have earned a spot on that list for five consecutive years! Chief Bittinger presented the Chief’s Award to FF/EMT Todd Heldenbrand for this outstanding achievement.

We also extend a special thank you to our department Chaplain, Fred Thomas, who has been a guiding light and steady presence for over 10 years. His compassion and support have been invaluable to our members and their families during challenging times.
Lastly, we would like to thank Patti Sponsler for her generous donation last night during our annual banquet. Patti has always been a supporter of first responders. Patti is the mother of our very own Lt. Jean Sidle. Thank you!

To all our firefighters, EMTs, officers, and families—thank you for your continued dedication, courage, and service.
